It’s time to unbox the OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G & give you its first impressions.

It’s a 65W Super VOOC charger along with Type C earphones which are rare nowadays. It doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack & you get a USB Type C cable.

Design - I had shown its back and it looks premium from every angle. It’s a curved glass & the multi-coloured back.

Build Quality - OPPO says it has an AG glass, but it doesn’t feel like it. But it’s nice.

And at the front there’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Even though the phone is premium, we’re going to do the drop test. The case is of good quality & has a snugly fit. The case fits well & there’s no problem even if it falls.

Ports & Buttons - Below, there’s a speaker grille, a USB Type C port, a mic & a sim card tray. On the left, there are volume buttons. On top, there's a good finish with a noise-cancelling mic.

On the right, there’s the power on/off button with a green tinge & it looks good. These small things on premium phones make a difference. The sim card tray has a dual nano sim slot. This phone comes in only 1 variant with 256GB storage, so it’s no problem even without an SD card.

In-hand Feel - It’s gorgeous, even if your hands are small or average, it won’t feel big It’s a little big for a one-hand operation because of the 6.55” screen, but still the overall in-hand feel is good & won’t fall. Weight distribution feels good. Let's check the weight. It weighs about 179g & it’s light.

It surely feels like a light being under 180g. And it has a 4500mAh battery. Maybe I guessed the weight because of its battery size. Interestingly, there’s glass on both sides with a huge battery & it’s still lightweight (under 180g). Let’s look at the software to see how it looks from the inside Display - It’s a 6.55” FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz fast refresh rate.

It has a 180Hz touch sampling rate with 800 nit’s brightness. The display could’ve been 120Hz, but all other things are nice. And 6.55” screen size is ideal. It has a 91.2% screen-to-body ratio & because of the curved sides, the bezels are non-existent. In fact, the display flows on the left & right sides.

The top bezel is average-sized & looks similarly small as the bottom. And hence it has a high screen-to-body ratio. Look at the display, just like the back, it looks premium from the front. Specifications - It has Immensity 1200 SoC, which is based on the 6Nm fabrication technology.

it is very power efficient. It has only 1 variant (12GB RAM & 256GB storage). It has a virtual RAM memory that can be extended up to 7GB.It isn’t a normal memory & it uses the memory storage for additional virtual RAM. It’s a different concept, (we'll plan to make a video on it later)

It has UFS 3.1 storage type with LPDDR4X RAM type. It has a huge 4500mAh battery, it can get you through the day & has a 65W fast charging (charges 0-100% battery in 31 minutes)OS UI - It has the latest ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11 with June’s security patch.

In 2020 we’d said that ColorOS is the most improved UI & this is no different. Yes, you get some preinstalled apps that you can uninstall. You get a lot of other features along with a customizable always-on display. In fact, ColorOS has some of the best always-on displays & you can do a lot of things with it. It has a game focus mode that hides notifications/alerts while gaming

You can take a freeform screenshot which gives you more control over it.

Performance - The combination of Immensity 1200 SoC along with ColorOS feels really smooth & UI is also quite responsive. Even if you play longer sessions, it won’t get warm & overall performance is very good.

Sensors - It has all sensors, including an in-display fingerprint sensor & face unlock that work well.

Camera - It has a 64MP+8MP+2MP+2MP quad-camera setup which looks like a triple but has a camera sensor below the LED flash. The selfie shooter is a 32MP pinhole camera on the left. My first camera impressions are decent, the 64MP primary sensor clicks good photos with good colours.

We’ll have to use it in different situations & to test its cameras. The hardware is decent, but the software is very nice & full of features. It has a Bokeh Flair Portrait Video Mode for smooth & colourful background bokeh effects that look good in videos.

You also get different SOLOOP templates for good looking short videos. Multimedia - The video viewing experience is good with great viewing angles especially with a curved screen. It has mono speakers which are good & loud, but stereo speakers would’ve been great. But the overall multimedia experience is very good.

Connectivity -It gets 5G(DSDS), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi calling, Dual 4G VoLTE & NFC.

Features - It has a 360-degree light sensor that adjusts the brightness depending on the environment.

Which is helpful for saving the battery. You get Wide vine L1, GCam support & notification light is missing So the OPPO Reno6 Pro 5G is a premium phone with a curved screen, good in-hand feel & a great display. The cameras are fine & we still must use them to tell you more about it. But overall, it’s very nice. Now it all depends on the price. Remember it has only 1 variant(12GB+256GB)

In China, it’s priced at 3500-3600 Yuan (approx. Rs 40,000). We aren't sure about its pricing but if it comes around Rs 40K, I’d say it’s a decent deal. It might not be the best value for money as it’s a premium phone & the price should be around Rs 40K.
